I really enjoyed speaking at SMU Law School about mediation in family law cases. I believe that achieving a settlement agreement in a case through mediation is almost always the better option for families than bringing the issues to Court to have them decided by a judge or jury.

This week, Partners Ryan Bauerle- Family Law Attorney- GoransonBain Ausley and Hayley Collins Blair - GoransonBain Ausley spoke to law students at SMU Dedman School of Law. They shared their knowledge on family law mediation with Professor Jay Madrid’s Alternative Dispute Resolution class. Hayley and Ryan had a great time and enjoyed meeting the next generation of future attorneys.

A portion of my family law practice has been cases where one parent is struggling with addiction- either alcohol, drug use, or both. I am passionate about helping parents to make sure their kids are safe, and also helping parents who have struggled with addiction. I think it is important for everyone to know that there is a path towards a brighter day. Even when there is a history of addiction, parents who are committed to recovery can have a future that includes meaningful parenting time with their children.

Looking forward to the Denton County Trial Academy, which is a great way for attorneys of different practice areas spend time together and to get to know our Denton County Judges. It will be a great program this year. The first session is September 16, and so there is still time to sign-up!
