June is National Elder Abuse Awareness Month, and June 15 is World Elder Abuse Awareness Day. These reminders matter because protecting the safety, dignity, and independence of older adults is a responsibility we all share.

Elder abuse can be difficult to spot, and the warning signs aren’t always obvious. Staying informed and knowing what to look for can make a real difference in the lives of aging loved ones.

If you're worried about someone in your life or want help understanding your options, our team is here to support you, answer questions, and guide you toward the next right step.

Once your child turns 18, you no longer have automatic access to help with medical or financial decisions—even in a crisis. That’s why having the right legal documents in place is so important for young adults.

Our team helps families across Prosper, Plano, McKinney, Frisco, and the greater DFW area get these essentials ready with clarity and peace of mind.

If your child needs help preparing or signing their documents, we’re here to make the process simple. Give us a call today at (469) 714-2280.

As we observe Memorial Day, we pause to honor the courageous men and women who gave their lives in service to our country. Their sacrifice allows us the freedoms we cherish today.

Our office will be closed on Friday, May 22nd and Monday, May 25th, in remembrance of the holiday. We will reopen Tuesday, May 26th, and our team will respond to any messages as soon as we return.

We wish you a thoughtful and meaningful Memorial Day.

May is Older Americans Month, and it's a great time to make sure your estate plan truly supports your goals and protects the people you love. At the Law Office of Janelle Cremé, we work with many seniors and their families in Prosper, Plano, McKinney, Frisco, and the surrounding areas, and we know how much peace of mind a well‑organized plan can bring.

Here are a few proactive steps you can take this month:

• Organize important documents
Make sure your will, trust, powers of attorney, insurance information, property records, and beneficiary designations are stored somewhere secure and accessible to the right people. Include passwords or instructions for any digital accounts as well.

• Update your asset inventory
List your financial, physical, and digital assets and compare them with your current estate plan. If you’ve purchased something new or notice gaps, it may be time for an update.

• Document your final wishes
Whether it’s burial preferences, memorial plans, or pre‑arranged services, putting your wishes in writing removes uncertainty for your loved ones when they need clarity most.

These simple steps can provide clarity and confidence for both you and your family. If you’d like help reviewing or updating your estate plan, my office is here to support you every step of the way.

National Senior Fraud Awareness Day is May 15, and we want to help our community stay informed and protected. Here are several common scams we’re seeing more often so you can spot red flags quickly.

• Tech support scams: Scammers pretend to be trusted tech support, claim your device has a problem, and try to gain remote access or collect payment for fake issues.
• Government or Medicare impersonation: Fraudsters pose as Medicare or Social Security to request personal information or payments. Legitimate agencies don’t make unsolicited contact like this.
• Family imposter scams: Someone pretends to be a loved one in distress and pressures you to send money fast.
• Sweepstakes and prize scams: You’re told you’ve won something but must pay fees to receive your “prize.”
• Romance or investment scams: Scammers build trust online and then manipulate victims financially.

We hope these reminders help you stay safe in an increasingly digital world. If you ever have questions related to estate planning or protecting your family’s future, our team is here to help.

May is Older Americans Month, and it’s a perfect reminder to check in on the legal documents that keep your wishes protected as life changes.

We work with many North Texas seniors and their families, and we see every day how the right planning brings confidence, clarity, and peace of mind.

Here are a few key tools that make a big difference:

• Living trusts for easier asset management and potential probate avoidance, especially if you ever face incapacity.
• Powers of attorney so the people you trust can step in quickly for medical or financial decisions when needed.
• Advance health care directives to outline treatment preferences and ensure they work hand‑in‑hand with your medical power of attorney.

If you’re unsure whether your documents are up to date—or if you’ve never created them—we’re here to help. Reach out anytime to start the conversation.
