There’s a quiet danger in the ADHD space no one talks about…
As someone who’s now thriving after decades of struggle, I think it’s time we do.
Here's what I've seen, and why it matters.
Gentle caution is needed…
👉 When people without ADHD start using medical-sounding terms—like executive function, dopamine hacks, or ADHD-friendly routines—to sell to ADHDers.
These terms are not trendy buzzwords for us.
They’re our reality.
We hear these terms in therapy…
In doctors’ offices…
And in the quiet battles we fight to manage our lives.
So, when a shiny ad shows up promising “neurodiverse-friendly” solutions?
We pause.
We hope.
We try.
Because many of us live with decision fatigue, time scarcity, and emotional burnout.
Because maybe—this time—it will help.
But here’s the problem:
Many of these marketers don’t understand ADHD at all.
They just know enough to sell to our pain points.
And when it doesn’t work?
We don’t blame the product.
We blame ourselves.
Again.
That’s the most painful part.
👉 But please hear this:
You are NOT the failure.
The product is.
The people who marketed it are.
The real cost isn’t just the money (though that adds up too—what I call “ADHD debt”).
👉 It costs us something much more precious: Hope.
Hope that we are finally rebuilding.
And every time we try something not truly built for us…
That cost compounds.
Quietly. Powerfully. Exponentially.
👉 This is the hidden cost that you must guard against.
You might be wondering:
“How do I know if something labeled ‘ADHD-friendly’ is actually trustworthy?”
Here’s what I ask myself:
- Was it created by someone with ADHD—or with ADHD professionals?
- Do they truly understand how ADHD shows up in real life—or are they just using the right language?
- Do they embody the 3Cs—care, curiosity, and compassion—or are they just marketing the vibe?
You don’t owe anyone your energy just because they speak our language…
Especially not if it costs you your self-belief.
And when you read testimonials, add an extra layer of caution and ask:
- Are these from people who finished the program—or dropped out quietly from shame?
- Were they written after real results—or in the early ADHD high of starting something new?
Because for ADHDers in emotional pain, testimonials can trigger urgency that overrides instinct.
That’s not your impulsiveness. That’s strategic marketing design.
👉 Not all social proof is proof.
✨ So to my fellow ADHD mompreneurs:
Please protect your Hope.
It’s sacred.
You’ve been let down by people who didn’t carry the weight of your story. And that can stop here.
🛑 To the marketers reading this:
If you truly care about our community…
Don’t just market to us.
Build with us. Learn from us.
Support us with care, curiosity, and compassion.
Marketing to people with ADHD isn’t a strategy.
It’s a responsibility.
If you’re not ready to honor that, please don’t market to us at all.
But if you are—and you’re not sure where to start—reach out.
I welcome your curiosity. I’m here for real conversations.
Let’s build a world where support isn’t manipulative, but meaningful.
I appreciate you 🙏,

P.S. For those new to my space and want to know who I am:
I’m Katherine Lizardo.
I’m not on a journey to become a thriving ADHD mompreneur—I am one.
But my transformation took years, fears, and tears.
Diagnosed over two decades ago, I’ve lived with ADHD while:
- Raising two incredible boys (one with ADHD)
- Building two purpose-driven businesses
- Practicing law
- And investing in my deep personal growth with 1,000+ therapy sessions
I know what it feels like to be overwhelmed, to try everything, to wonder if life will ever feel manageable.
And I also know what it’s like to come out the other side…
Not just surviving—but thriving.
Now, I guide other ADHD mompreneurs toward the same inside my community…
Not from theory, but from lived experience and systems that work.
P.P.S. What if there’s a place where your ADHD story is understood and honored?
That’s why I created the Thriving ADHD Mompreneurs community…
