Accounting Manager
Established Pittsfield, MA law firm with 10 employees [attorneys and staff] seeks to immediately hire a full time experienced Accounting/Office Manager (“Manager”) to handle the financial & administrative operations of the firm, including client billings, cash receipts, accounts payable/accounts receivable, vendor contact and coordination, payroll & related reporting including coordination with the firm’s payroll vendor, cash flow analysis and interim management prepared financial statements, bank reconciliations, trust accounting, financial & tax reporting, , assisting/monitoring aspects of human resources and employee record and file maintenance of human resource standards, medical benefits, and the firm’s 401k plan, and the firm’s professional and general insurance coverage and renewals.
Job responsibilities include managing all aspects of the firm’s accounting: processing invoices and issuing checks and electronic payments for the firm’s A/P, A/R, manage cash flow/banking functions, monitor revenue and expenses, reconcile the bank accounts, perform month-end and year-end financial reporting, act as the firm's liaison with the firm’s bankers and vendors and outside IT staff, serve as main point of contact for external auditors and tax advisors. Organize and report to partners with respect to office operations and general office procedures. Assist in the onboarding process for new hires and maintain HR functions. Perform or supervise all day-to-day transactional accounting. The Manager is also responsible for the overall management of the firm’s physical facilities. Hours- 8:30 – 5:00.
A college degree, with a concentration in accounting is preferred, is required. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of a bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field. Experience in financial management, preferably in a law firm or professional office environment. Ability to perform basic and advanced mathematical computations. The candidate must also have a strong knowledge of Microsoft Office and advanced Excel skills. Experience with payroll reporting, retirement plan reporting, and vendor oversight and management strongly preferred. Must be detailed oriented with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment. The ideal candidate must possess strong written and verbal communication skills as well as always maintain organization of various on-going tasks. Heavy interoffice communication with attorneys and legal assistants, etc. Confidential, managing client relationships.
Additional skills should include advanced Proficiency in Quickbooks desktop, Advanced proficiency in MS Office; Word & Excel, TEAMS, Quicken, Adobe, Strong technical skills, PC Proficiency. HR, Insurance, Scanning, IT, Ordering, Inventory, Errands, Health Insurance, Prof Liability Ins, Business Insurance, Sage Timeslips not required but preferred.
