Older Pittsburgh house and not sure what is worth updating before you list?

• Paint first. Fresh, light walls do more than most cosmetic projects. Make sure if caulking needs replaced, replace it!
• Refinish hardwoods if they are scratched or dull. Especially if you have original hardwoods!
• Update faded or cracked outlet/switch covers.
• Replace dated fixtures that make rooms feel dim.
• Do visible masonry touch-ups. Cracked mortar and loose steps stand out. This often gets missed and it is an immediate red-flag for buyers.
• Skip the full remodel when the room works. Clean, repaired, and well-priced usually beats over-improving.
