About Zane:
Zane Harrison Gates, Esq. is a Pittsburgh-based public interest attorney committed to defending civil rights, family integrity, and equal access to justice. He previously served as a Parent Advocate with the Family Defense Project at Neighborhood Legal Services, where he represented and supported parents navigating the child welfare system; and as an Assistant Public Defender in Allegheny County where he handled thousands of serious criminal matters. He currently serves as Vice President of the Pittsburgh Black Lawyers Alliance (PBLA). He is a 2026 graduate of the Allegheny County Bar Association's Pathways to Leadership Program, a member of the Homer S. Brown Division of the ACBA, and serves on the ACBA Access to Justice Committee. Across his legal and civic work, Zane has dedicated his skills to advancing justice, protecting vulnerable communities, and expanding access to the legal profession for the next generation.
