Employers often don’t pay for “lunch breaks” but then ask the employee to work through a portion, or all, of their lunch. Overtime is another frequent issue. Employers owe employees set compensation once they work more than a certain number of hours – but often times employers will find ways to deprive employees of the increased pay. All of these examples are considered “wage theft” and if you are the victim, you have substantial rights that can be enforced to recover your loss and potentially additional amounts aimed at ensuring your employer changes their practices.

The rights of a worker matter. A worker’s employer expects many things: hard work, skilled labor, long hours, dedication. The worker should have expectations too: to be treated fairly, not to be discriminated against, not to be harassed (sexually, verbally or otherwise), to be paid for all the hours they work, overtime wages, and above all to have a non-hostile and humane work environment to go to each and every day.
