If youāre in a lawsuit, at some point youāll probably hear the word āinterrogatories.ā It sounds intimidating, but itās really just a list of written questions.
Hereās how it works. Each side serves the other with written questions, and each has 30 days to respond. Your answers are sworn, meaning you sign them and have them notarized, and from that point on theyāre your answers in the case.
That matters because they can come back later. If youāre asked who has knowledge of your damage and you leave a name off, the insurance company can point that out when you testify. Everything in your written answers is fair game.
Thatās why we do this together. We donāt hand you a blank form - we draft the answers as best we can, then work through them with you so youāre comfortable with every word before you sign.
Attorney Jason Herman walks through it in this "Words That Matter".
