Effective today, I have retired from the practice of law and have closed the firm. After nearly thirty-two years practicing law, including fifteen on my own under the JMKPA banner, it is time to move on.
I would like to thank everyone I’ve worked with, worked for, and even worked against; all of you helped make me a better attorney. I would like to thank my JMKPA clients for putting your trust in me and allowing me to help with your appellate and litigation support needs; we obtained good results and along the way I proved to myself that I could practice law “my way” and make it a worthwhile endeavor.
There are two people I want to thank specifically.
First is my wife, Michele. Without her love and support, I never would have been able to go out on my own and keep JMKPA going for nearly fifteen years. Thank you. I love you.
Second is my dear friend and college teammate, Peter Sosin. Back in 2011 he wanted me to do his writing and helped me gain the confidence to go out on my own. We did a lot of good work together, had fun, and remained close until his passing (far too early) in January 2024. Thanks, Pete; I miss you every day.
A wise man once said: “Everything ends and it's always sad, but everything begins again, too. And that's always happy. Be happy.” There is a bit of sadness walking away from something I have spent over half my life pursuing but I am happy for what comes next, whatever that may be.
JMK out.
