My grandma is almost 98 and is one of the greatest influences in my life.

She taught me that hard work, kindness, and perseverance are the foundations of a meaningful life.

When I was visiting her in Iowa this week, she shared with me she thinks about me being a lawyer every single day, and it fills her heart with joy. Knowing how proud she is means more to me than any title or accomplishment ever could.

And the greatest gift of all is that she’s still here to watch me live the dream she inspired me to chase. I hope to honor her example by working hard, treating people with kindness, and being the best lawyer I can be.

One of the reasons I love personal injury law so much is because… I’m actually not.

In my first year of law school at ASU, everything had moved online due to Covid. My girls were home too, each in their rooms on their computers, trying to make sense of online school. I'll never forget figuring out Zoom and how to give an oral argument to a screen. I knew I was on the right path, but things felt unfamiliar and a little surreal.

Today, I stood next to my client, fully in my role, there to advocate for her, and to protect her.

As her attorney.

And it felt so good. ❤️

One of the coolest things about this season of life is realizing that the women I once looked up to as mentors and idols… are now my friends.

In 2013, I returned to work with my two beautiful daughters in preschool and first grade. It led to new opportunities, new confidence, and eventually the courage to apply to law school.
It didn’t feel like the beginning of a bigger dream. It felt practical. Responsible. I was focused on raising my daughters, contributing, and rebuilding momentum. There was no clear roadmap to becoming an attorney.
All I knew was I wasn’t done becoming.
I learned the most valuable lesson: You don’t have to see the full staircase. You just have to take the next step that honors who you’re becoming.

In 2013, I didn’t know where the path would lead.
I only knew I wasn’t finished growing.

And my daughters were watching.
