The evidence has changed over time in our 30 years of business. But the job hasn’t.

Find what matters. Preserve it defensibly. Produce it in a format the court will accept.

A few things Q&C has watched stay true across every era of discovery:
→ Organization beats volume. In 1995 it was Bates labels and color tabs. In 2026 it's tagging and TAR workflows. Same principle: the team that can find the document wins the deposition.
→ Preservation is a deadline, not a phase. The expensive mistakes don't happen during review. They happen in the first 48 hours, before anyone thinks the case is "really" started.
→ Defensibility wins cases. Tools change every five years. The standard — documented chain of custody, preserved metadata, court-ready production — doesn't.

Pretty soon, there will be another shift in how we cull, code, and prioritize. But the questions opposing counsel asks at deposition are the same ones they asked thirty years ago: Where did this come from? How was it collected? Can you prove it wasn't altered?

If you can answer those three questions cleanly, the tools don't matter as much.

Mental Health Awareness Month always feels a little strange in the legal world.

The profession talks openly now about burnout, anxiety, and the toll of deadline-driven work. Then Monday comes, the deposition is Friday, and 12,000 pages still need to be stamped, tabbed, and at the courthouse by 8am.
