Abigail graduated from Barrett, the Honors College at Arizona State University in 2 years with dual degrees in Forensic Psychology and Sociology.

Abigail joined the team to get more experience in legal writing and work before starting a one-year Masters of Arts degree in Social Sciences (Psychology concentration) at the University of Chicago. Upon completion of the MA, Abigail intends to apply to law school and continue studying both law and psychology in order to improve forensic victim advocacy.

Joanne Garcia joined the firm in 2021. Her legal assistant career began in complex civil litigation in 2002. Joanne works closely with the litigation team, and our clients, analyzing and developing strategies to achieve the best possible outcome for each case. The litigation department is about teamwork, and our clients are an integral part of that team. She prepares and processes legal documents, such as complaints, motions, discovery and disclosure, as well as assist the litigation team when preparing for mediations and arbitrations.

In her spare time, Joanne enjoys running. You can often catch her jogging before work to get that boost of energy and keep her focused throughout the day.

Joanne was drawn to the values the Cordova Family upholds and is fortunate to be an essential part of this dedicated, hardworking firm. She finds her position to be very gratifying helping people during their most difficult times and assisting in obtaining the results our clients deserve. Congratulations Joanne! Alma Soteno has been with The Law Offices of Michael Córdova since 2013. She initially joined the firm as our Office Receptionist and served in this capacity for three (3) years. Due to her strong work ethic, loyalty, commitment and passion to help others, she was promoted and assumed the Legal Intake Specialist position. On a daily basis, Alma screens a high volume of new client calls with the utmost care, diligence, and compassion since clients are in need of immediate assistance and counsel. Alma’s delicate, professional, and tactful approach to these unnerving topics is a clear reflection to our firm’s philosophy and mission: we put our client’s interest first. Alma’s sincere concern for our client’s well-being is valued for someone in her position, to say the least, Alma is simply an extraordinary ambassador for our firm.

Additionally, Alma is responsible and provides administrative support in various critical areas that are imperative to the daily operations of the firm such as updating firm-wide documents, overseeing accounts receivable and accounts payable, managing the closing of clients and vendor’s files, coordination of office events, and maintenance of provider’s database. Over the last 9 years, we have witnessed Alma grow and develop into an exceptional young professional. However, what is most admiring is her firm resolution to continue to learn and contribute to the success of the firm. Her down to earth personality, warm character, witty and charismatic personality, and disposition to go out of her way to help others are one of her greatest attributes, those of which we would like to recognize and honor, especially on this special day.

Silvia Pedroza joined the Law Offices of Michael Córdova in 2019. Prior to joining our firm, Silvia worked for another plaintiff’s personal injury law firm as a Legal Assistant bringing over 14 years of experience and knowledge to our firm. To put it simply, we were thrilled for her arrival.

On a day-to-day basis, Silvia handles a caseload of about 30-40 clients and is responsible for handling all aspects of assigned claims from their inception. She keeps cases organized and monitors deadlines, helps develop cases by marshalling all medical information, and other legal documents for attorney review and case preparation, maintains constant communication with clients, drafts letters, legal documents, and demands for the review of the supervising legal assistant/attorney. Aside from all of her beneficial experience and knowledge in this field, Silvia is tremendously compassionate and patient with our clients.  She truly cares and feels accountable to our clients, a true “champion”, if you will, of our client’s rights. One can have multiple years of experience in a field, but lack the compassion. In this instance, this firm, as well as our client(s), benefit greatly with her presence as part of our Córdova Family.  

Aside of her professional abilities and accomplishments, Silvia is attending school and pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration with a minor in Accounting. It is no small task to work full time all day to then attend school on your free time but Silvia makes it look easy. On a personal note, when she is not buried in homework and consumed with assignment deadlines, Silvia enjoys been home with her kids, playing board games and listening to music. She also maintains a jewelry box collection and designs some of the boxes herself.

Congratulations on your 3rd year anniversary, Silvia. We are very pleased to have you as part of the Córdova family and we thank you for your all your hard work, dedication, and contributions to the firm.
