Ina Cohen has been elected Member-at-Large to the State Bar of Arizona Business Law Section Executive Council. The Business Law Section promotes the growth of business law in Arizona by fostering its development, ensuring consistency in legislation and administration, improving access to justice, offering legal education, coordinating events, publishing legal literature, and advocating for the legal profession. As a Member-at-Large, Ina will actively participate in monthly council meetings and contribute to the planning and organization of CLE programs for the Section. Ina's appointment is a testament to her accomplishments and highlights her dedication to cultivating excellence and giving back to our legal community.

Patrick F. Welch has been appointed Vice-Chair to the American Bar Association TIPS Fidelity & Surety Law Committee (FLSC). As Vice-Chair, Patrick will recruit new section members and enhance connections within the many ABA TIPS committees. The FLSC is the leading intellectual and legal resource for the surety and fidelity insurance industries. Its publications, conferences, and diverse membership offer its members invaluable professional development and networking opportunities. Joel Greene and Andrea Sarmentero attended the International District Energy Association 114th Annual Conference and Trade Show, "IDEA 2023 Empowering the Next Generation," in Chicago, Illinois. The event gathered over 800 IDEA members and district energy colleagues throughout the United States and from 20 countries, who came together to share experiences, explore new solutions, and learn from each other.

Joel has been an active member of IDEA for nearly 30 years, joining in 1994. He served on the Board of Directors starting in 1999 and as IDEA Chair in 2003-2004. In 2005, Joel and Jennings Strouss assumed the role of Outside General Counsel to IDEA. In recognition of Joel's exceptional stewardship, leadership, friendship, and commitment to IDEA, he was honored by President/CEO Rob Thornton with the President's Award at the Chair's Reception and Banquet. As Joel transitions from his position as IDEA's Counsel, Andrea Sarmentero will assume that role, ensuring a smooth and seamless transition in JSS's legal representation of IDEA.

IDEA, a nonprofit organization founded in 1909, is dedicated to advancing energy efficiency and sustainability by implementing district energy systems. By uniting industry professionals and providing valuable resources, IDEA strives to enhance energy efficiency, reduce emissions, and foster the development of sustainable communities.
