I have some of the most amazing clients in the world! ❤️

One of my clients and I support rival football clubs, and we are constantly engaged in friendly banter about whose team is the best. ⚽😂

Well, apparently, he decided the best way to silence me was to send me a replica UEFA Champions League trophy!🏆🤣

And guess which team he supports? Paris Saint-Germain (PSG)!🇫🇷

Now, what am I supposed to say after receiving such a thoughtful and wonderful gift? How can I even continue our football rivalry? 😂

Señor J, ¡muchísimas gracias! I absolutely love my Champions League trophy! 🏆❤️

It has already earned a special place in my office and, of course, it will be another fantastic conversation starter!

The football rivalry continues, but this round, Señor J, you win! 😂👏⚽

IMMIGRATION UPDATE: USCIS BIOMETRICS & CONTINUOUS VETTING

If you receive this type of notice from USCIS, do not panic. Here are the important points:

USCIS is using biometrics for ongoing vetting. Biometrics such as fingerprints and photographs may be used to check FBI criminal-history records.

USCIS is moving away from only one-time background checks. The notice explains that USCIS has been transitioning from point-in-time screening and vetting to an event-based process known as Continuous Immigration Vetting (CIV).

What does Continuous Immigration Vetting mean? Instead of checking an applicant only at a particular stage of the immigration process, USCIS may receive information when relevant criminal-history records require additional review.

Receiving this notice does NOT mean you have a criminal record. USCIS says applicants whose biometrics are collected for FBI criminal-history checks must receive information explaining how their records are collected, used, and shared.

You generally do NOT need to take any action just because you received this notice. The notice specifically states: “You do not need to take any further action at this time.” USCIS says it will send a separate notice if additional information is required.

You have rights regarding your FBI record. You have the right to know that USCIS is using your biometrics for criminal-history checks, request a copy of your FBI identity record, and challenge or seek correction of information you believe is inaccurate or incomplete.

USCIS says there are limits on how the information is used and shared. According to the notice, criminal-history information will be used only for authorized non-criminal-justice purposes and protected as required by federal law
BOTTOM LINE: If you receive one of these notices, don't automatically assume that USCIS found something negative in your background. The notice itself appears to be explaining the government's biometric-vetting process and your privacy rights.

Read it carefully, keep a copy with your immigration records, and watch for any separate notice from USCIS requesting additional information.

Congratulations to Rob Coughlon, Esq., on the publication of his new book, Fixing Immigration in America: A Common Sense Plan for Immigration Reform.

As an immigration attorney, I found the book insightful, timely, and thought-provoking. It offers an important contribution to the ongoing conversation about America’s immigration system and the need for practical, common-sense reform.

A good and worthwhile read. Congratulations, Rob, on this important accomplishment! 👏📚🇺🇸

The Flight That Never Left ✈️
Some destinies are written at 30,000 feet. Folarin Balogun's was written at the gate.

Summer 2001. Florence Balogun, seven months pregnant, stands at a New York airport with a ticket home to London. The airline takes one look and says no. Too far along, too risky to fly. The return flight leaves without her.

Stranded in Brooklyn, Florence stays with relatives. And on July 3, 2001, Folarin "Flo" Jerry Balogun arrives in the world, an American by birth, a citizen by the grace of a flight he was never on. Birthright citizenship, as we call it today.

Weeks later, the family flew home to London, where Flo grew up the way boys grow up in Nigerian households everywhere: with football as a second religion. At eight years old, Arsenal scouted him off his Sunday League pitch at Aldersbrook, this after he nearly signed with Tottenham, Arsenal’s North London rival.

Born in Brooklyn. Raised in London. Blood from Nigeria.

Three flags. One choice.

He chose the Stars and Stripes.

At the 2026 World Cup, Flo answered the call: three goals, one assist, and a hunger that never dimmed. Yes, the U.S. run ended sooner than we hoped. But I dare submit to you — a 25-year-old striker who just announced himself on the world's biggest stage is not a closing chapter. He is an opening act. His future in red, white, and blue only glows brighter from here.

(And that rescinded red card against Bosnia and Herzegovina by Fifa? That, my friends, is a story for another day.)

He is not wrong.
