Hello, everyone. Thank you for your support over the past several years that enabled Advocates for Wild Equines to lobby consistently in Washington, DC, with a professional team of lobbyists. We're very proud of the work we've done as a unique grassroots lobbying group.

We are formally announcing that A*W*E has been disbanded. Please cancel any automatic monthly payments you may have set up. Donations received after July 1 will be refunded.

In memory of A*W*E's founder Lorna Torrey-Palermo, we will continue to passionately fight for the horses and burros she so fiercely defended.

How does this make sense?

We're deeply frustrated by a newly released article reporting that the U.S. Forest Service is calling for more cattle to be grazed on America's public lands.
At the very same time, our government continues to aggressively remove America's wild horses and burros, repeatedly claiming that our public lands cannot sustain them.

So which is it?
If our rangelands are truly so fragile that our iconic wild horses and burros must be removed by the thousands, how can adding even more privately owned livestock be presented as the solution?

For decades, wild horses and burros have been blamed for land degradation while they occupy only a fraction of the forage allocated on many public lands. Meanwhile, livestock grazing remains one of the largest commercial uses of those same landscapes.

America's wild horses are native-returning grazers that have evolved alongside North American ecosystems over millions of years through their ancestral lineage. They are part of our nation's natural heritage—not just another "use" of the land.

At Love Wild Horses Foundation, our own rewilding and land resilience projects continue to demonstrate that wild horses, when managed humanely and holistically, can be part of restoring healthier, more resilient landscapes that benefit wildlife, biodiversity, water retention, and wildfire resilience.

Instead of removing our wild horses while expanding commercial livestock grazing, shouldn't we be asking what management practices truly serve the long-term health of our public lands?

It's time for policies rooted in sound science, transparency, and the best interests of America's wild places—not double standards.

As the Western United States battles unprecedented wildfires, recent reports indicate that over 140,800 acres have burned in Utah alone. Over the past decade throughout the West, wildfires have claimed hundreds of lives, billions of dollars in annual economic damage, and destroyed tens of thousands of homes and businesses.

The potential role of free-roaming wild horses as a keystone species in addressing the West's escalating wildfire and desertification crises continues to be largely ignored by current federal land management policies.

Love Wild Horses Foundation's (LWHF) rewilding and land resilience models, now underway in three Western states, are producing compelling evidence that wild horses can help reduce wildfire fuel loads, restore grasslands, combat desertification, and strengthen ecosystem resilience. Yet more than 70,000 federally protected wild horses and burros remain confined in government holding facilities while taxpayers continue to fund the costly program and direct helicopter round ups of wild horses and burros.

Through its proposed "Save the Wild West, Natural Grassland Protection Act", LWHF seeks to restore wild horses to their natural ecological role, protect millions of acres of public lands and America's last free-roaming wild horses, and, according to the Foundation, save taxpayers up to $25 billion annually.

Advocates are pushing for the "Save the Wild West, Natural Grassland Protection Act" to be introduced as legislation in Congress.

Pearl and Atlas.💕🐴💕🐴

Two lives that were just moments away from a very different fate.

Pearl, a BLM-branded mare, was rescued just minutes before being loaded onto a slaughter truck. Atlas, only two years old, was also pulled from the same fate in the final moments.

Today, these beautiful wild horses are safe, protected, and roaming free as part of Love Wild Horses Foundation's Northern California Land Resilience Rewilding Project.

Their journey is an example of the incredible impact of our supporters. Because of your generous support, Pearl and Atlas were given a second chance—not just to survive, but to thrive.
