Our intern, Allyson Nelson, completed her summer with us today! Allyson is a rising 2L at Villanova Law. She is a Philadelphia native and previously earned her BA from the University of Pennsylvania. Our partner, F Philip Robin, is in his second decade of handling pro bono (volunteer) immigration cases through HIAS Pennsylvania. We are proud to congratulate Phil and his client on an important recent win.

In September, Phil won a grant of asylum for his client, a 27-year-old man from northeast Africa. The client survived torture and imprisonment by authorities in his home country, and was eventually forced into hiding. The client escaped to the United States, where he was detained for several months and then placed in deportation proceedings. Thanks to Phil's skilled representation, the client was granted asylum during his hearing before an immigration judge last month.

Congratulations to our partner, F Philip Robin, on receiving the Alumni Special Distinction Award from Drexel University! Dr. Robin received his BS in Electrical Engineering from Drexel before going on to law school and medical school.
