On August 28th, 2026, nine law enforcement officers from Gary, Indiana, and Lake County opened fire on Kenneth Williams Sr., a 67-year-old security guard. The incident occurred at the Gary Metro Center Transit Station following a report of an armed guard behaving erratically. Williams was pronounced dead at the scene. The Indiana State Police are investigating, and all involved officers have been placed on administrative leave.
