Every year, the Hidalgo County Bar Association puts on a criminal law conference. Over the years, it has become an institution and an opportunity for local defense lawyers to increase their knowledge. For perspective, this year, our conference spans multiple days and includes a diverse range of topics and two special themed days, an AI mini-conference and an expunction conference. It's also a great time! I am including my favorite photo from last year's networking event, which captures the spirit well.

Our conference is funded by sponsors. We offer various sponsorship levels, and there's flexibility too — last year, businesses sponsored specific items like lunches and networking events. For businesses, it is an opportunity to put their brand in front of a professional audience, creating connections and opportunities.

As a proud Marine, I wish all Marines a happy birthday.

For non-Marines, some information about the holiday: November 10, is a holiday celebrated by all Marines. Marine veterans receive birthday wishes and reflect on their service. For active-duty and reserve Marines, the celebration is much more involved and usually involves attending a formal ball. Festivities at the ball include a cake cutting ceremony and recognition of the oldest and youngest Marine present.

Commanders do their best to ensure that all Marines have the opportunity to celebrate, in some form—no matter where in the world they are stationed.

Ask any Marine and they will tell you celebrating the Marine Corps birthday ranks among their fondest memories.

With that, I encourage each of you to wish the Marine in your life a happy birthday.
