Petoskey continues to make national headlines, and for good reason. What many of us have always known is now being recognized on a larger stage.

To be mentioned alongside places like Nantucket and Napa speaks volumes about the demand, lifestyle, and long-term value our market offers. This isn’t just about price points, it’s about what draws people here, the water, the seasons, the charm, and the quality of life that’s hard to replicate anywhere else.

We’re seeing more buyers from outside the area who recognize Petoskey as a destination, not just a hometown. And with limited inventory in key segments, especially waterfront and newer construction, that demand continues to shape the market.

Petoskey, a small Northern Michigan town with fewer than 6,000 year-round residents, has joined the ranks of Nantucket, Mass., and Napa, Calif., as a luxury housing market where more than half of new home listings are priced at $1 million or more.

Realtor.com identified 13 “pure luxury” U.S. housing markets where more than half of all active listings are priced at $1 million or above. The report, based on March data, put Petoskey in 11th place, with 53% of its active listings priced above $1 million.

Petoskey’s median list price in March was $1.11 million, according to the report. Data showed the northwestern Lower Peninsula city on Little Traverse Bay has an average of about 104 $1 million-plus listings per year.

Petoskey is grouped in the report alongside well-known U.S. playgrounds for the wealthy like the island of Nantucket, Mass., where 99% of active listings in March exceeded $1 million, with a median list price of $4.08 million.

This was another contingent transaction, meaning everything had to line up perfectly. They found the right home first, we got it under contract, and then had a very tight window to list and sell their current home to make it all work. These situations can be stressful and time-sensitive, but with the right strategy and ex*****on, we made it happen. 💪

Their new spot in Lowell is truly something special. It’s one of those hidden gem communities, private and peaceful, yet just minutes from Grand Rapids.
