Did you know that You can gift anyone a monetary gift up to 17k annually and the recipient will not have to pay taxes on it! Unfortunately, it’s not tax deductible for the donor. You can give and receive more, but the donor has to file a gift return for amounts over $17k as there is a lifetime limit for such gifts. For 2023, the lifetime gift tax exemption is $12.92 million but it will drop to $6M by 2026. If you are married and receive a gift solely for you from a parent , this could be your separate property and not subject to being divided in a divorce.
