The law firm of Karkela, Hunt & Cheshire is looking for a self-motivated individual who is interested in working in a fast-paced environment. Seeking applicants for a full-time, in office position as a paralegal/legal assistant working in the areas of probate, guardianship, estate planning, and real estate. Bookkeeping experience is a plus. As a paralegal/legal assistant the position would require you to provide clerical support for attorneys in a professional law office. Duties include typing, drafting legal documents, client communication, maintaining files, and general staff support. Law office experience of at least one (1) year is preferred. Must have experience with Microsoft Word as well as Excel. Previous law firm experience and vocational training in Legal Secretarial, Paralegal, Assistant, and Bookkeeping preferred. Salary dependent upon qualifications and experience. Benefits package available.

~ Prepare and draft legal documents such as contracts, pleadings, motions, and correspondence with precision and attention to detail.
~ Manage case files and document management systems.
~ Conduct client meetings and phone calls to gather relevant information for case development.
~ Support project management tasks related to ongoing cases or legal initiatives.
~ Review legal documents for accuracy, consistency, and compliance with applicable laws.
~ Maintain organized filing systems both electronically and physically; ensure timely data entry and document management.
~ Provide administrative support including proofreading, transcription, scheduling appointments, and managing phone etiquette.
~ Assist with client communication and coordinate meetings or hearings as needed.
~ Support attorneys in preparing for litigation or transactional work across various practice areas.
𝙀𝙓𝙋𝙀𝙍𝙄𝙀𝙉𝘾𝙀
~ Prior paralegal experience or legal administrative experience is highly preferred.
~ Excellent writing skills with the ability to draft clear legal documents; proofreading and transcription experience is advantageous.
~ Knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.
~ Organizational skills capable of managing multiple cases simultaneously while maintaining accuracy.
~ Knowledge of bookkeeping and document review processes; familiarity with data entry and clerical tasks within a busy legal environment.
