Having an estate plan tucked away in a drawer is not quite the same as being prepared.

An emergency can quickly turn documents you rarely think about into documents your family needs immediately. A Power of Attorney, healthcare directive, trust, insurance information, or other important record is only useful if it is current, protected, and accessible to the people who may need it.

Take a few minutes to ask yourself: If something unexpected happened tomorrow, would the people I trust know where my important documents are and how to access them?

If the answer is no, that is a good place to start.
