Thinking about law school? Reagan’s advice is to get some real experience at a law firm during undergrad.

Working at a firm gave her the chance to see attorneys in action and understand what a career in the legal field actually looks like. Over the years, we’ve had interns walk away even more confident that they wanted to pursue law, while others realized it wasn’t the path for them. Both are valuable experiences.

An internship can help you figure out if the legal field is the right fit before taking the next step toward law school.

Football season is back, and so is one of our favorite LP traditions! We kicked off the season with our annual firm tailgate breakfast, bringing a little game day spirit into the office. It’s always a fun morning getting together, representing our favorite teams, and celebrating the start of football season!

Can you fire your attorney? Yes, you can.

Before anyone signs a contract with our firm, we make sure they understand that they have the right to end the attorney-client relationship, just as an attorney may have the right to withdraw from a case.

Choosing the right attorney from the beginning can help you avoid getting to that point. Do your research, ask questions, and make sure you feel confident in who you hire to represent you.

Getting into a rear-end accident doesn’t always mean the driver in the back is automatically at fault.

There are many different ways these accidents can happen, and sometimes the other driver’s actions play a role in the crash.

So if you rear-end someone, don’t immediately assume you’re responsible. Fault depends on the circumstances and what led up to the accident.

What should students know before starting law school?

The first year can be the hardest because it’s a completely different learning experience than what most students are used to. The best thing you can do is stay consistent. Keep up with your reading, stay prepared throughout the semester, and build strong study habits early so you’re not overwhelmed when exams come around.

Power through that first year, find the routine that works for you, and study hard. You’ve got this. Good luck to everyone starting their law school journey!
