The old Office of Veterans Affairs location at Camden County College was difficult to access, especially for those with mobility issues, because the parking lot was so far away from the front door. This new facility has a lot right next to the building on Collier Drive, near the county’s Lakeland campus.

Veterans Affairs Director Ted Gallagher said he and his team are here to serve and make sure veterans get the support they need. He said sometimes veterans aren’t aware of what they are eligible to receive.

“We find that quite a bit, especially with Vietnam veterans for that particular period of time. There’s a lot of Vietnam veterans that are not aware of the benefits that are available to them.”

He said if a veteran is unsure, they can contact the office or stop by and speak with a staff member, who can help them every step of the way.
