🚨 BREAKING: The Supreme Court just gave Amish families in New York a major win in their fight for religious freedom! 🇺🇸
In Miller v. McDonald, Amish parents and schools challenged New York's strict school vaccine mandate, which ditched religious exemptions after the 2019 measles outbreak. They argued it violates their First Amendment rights to raise kids in their faith—echoing the iconic Wisconsin v. Yoder case that protected Amish education.
The Second Circuit sided with NY, but today (Dec 8, 2025), SCOTUS vacated that ruling and remanded for a fresh look in light of Mahmoud v. Taylor—a new decision saying strict scrutiny applies when school policies burden parents' religious upbringing of kids. This could mean religious opt-outs for vaccines, just like for certain curricula.
