A few years ago, my book club read Untamed (by Glennon Doyle) while I was just beginning my real estate career.
At the time, I almost didn’t even start real estate.
50% of realtors fail in the first year.
87% don’t make it past five years.
I wondered why I would be the exceptions. I almost talked myself out of trying before I had even begun. But something in me kept saying to try anyways.
One of the stories in the book talks about a cheetah raised in a zoo. The cheetah has shelter, food, safety… everything it’s supposed to need. But deep down, something still feels off, because it was made for something bigger — even if it doesn’t yet know the savanna exists. The cheetah was not crazy for wanting more, it was meant for more.
That story stayed with me.
A year later, my real estate career started taking off at the exact same time my personal life completely fell apart. And somehow, the thing I almost never started became the very thing that allowed me to stand on my own feet and sustain my family through one of the hardest seasons of my life. I have now been in real estate for 8 years with 5 of those years being a top agent in my community. 🙏🏼
So now, I’m obsessed with cheetahs. 🐆
They remind me of my book club.
They remind me to trust my intuition.
They remind me that sometimes we feel called toward something before we fully understand why.
I truly believe women have a gift of intuition, however, women will call themselves crazy before fully trusting themselves.
Years later, this is still one of the books I gift to women going through transitions. I genuinely think every woman should read it at least once.
If there’s a quiet voice in you saying “do it” maybe you’re not crazy. Maybe you’re just a goddamn cheetah.
