But what happens – both in terms of a person’s status and the distribution of the deceased’s assets – if a soon-to-be-ex spouse dies before a divorce becomes official? Einhorn Barbarito Frost & Botwinick partners Gary Botwinick and Matheu Nunn, along with Alyssa Engleberg, explore proposed New Jersey legislation drafted to address this rare, but very real, life-altering occurrence and share language that could ultimately resolve confusion and provide closure to families throughout the Garden State.

TO VOTE IN DOVER, YOU MUST LIVE IN DOVER
Dover Mayoral Candidate Edward Correa calls for election integrity

May 13, 2023

Dover Mayoral Candidate and Civil Rights leader Edward Correa has dedicated more than 16 years of his life leading efforts to improve voter access and election integrity. His victories as an activist include winning lawsuits in court for language access for voters in New Jersey and he still strongly believes that election integrity is vital to our democracy.

Recently, Correa learned that residents of towns outside of Dover are being targeted via Facebook and in other ways to commit election fraud by accepting money to register to vote and then cast a vote for a particular candidate in the June 6, 2023 Dover Democratic Primary.

The scammer pays money to someone living outside of Dover to register to vote in Dover by using the fake address of a complicit third party. The illegally registered new voter then casts their vote for a particular candidate or candidates in order to receive their payment.

Correa on his own behalf and speaking on behalf of his entire slate of Dover First candidates for Alderman and Democratic Committee stated, "Dover First condemns, in the strongest terms possible, these illegal, unethical, and immoral acts of voter fraud. This behavior must immediately stop and that is why I reported these allegations to the Office of the New Jersey Attorney General." stated Correa

"It is important for the public to understand that using a phony address and accepting money in exchange for their vote for a particular candidate is an illegal act that undermines public faith and trust in our electoral system and puts our democracy at risk. It also puts the person running the scam, the person providing the fake address, and the person using the fake address at risk for criminal charges and significant penalties." Stated Correa

"I call upon all residents of other towns who have been approached to register at a fake address in Dover and/or have been offered money in exchange for their vote to immediately contact the Office of Attorney General." Correa urged.
