Please join us in recognizing 2026 WVBF Fellow Angela Brunicardi-Doss!

Angela serves as the public defender for the Fourth Circuit Public Defender Corporation. She previously served as an assistant prosecutor in Wood County and represented clients in private practice with Conley Law Office and Jan Dils Attorneys at Law.

A leader within the legal profession, Angela has served in several roles with The West Virginia State Bar, including chair of the Criminal Law Committee, chair of the Young Lawyers Section, and member of the Board of Governors. She has also served on the West Virginia Indigent Defense Commission and as president of the Wood County Bar Association.

Angela's career reflects an outstanding commitment to public service, the practice of law, and the people of West Virginia. We're proud to welcome her as a WVBF Fellow! 👏 ⚖️

The 4th Circuit Public Defender's Office will close at 12:00pm on Thursday July 2 and will be closed July 3, 2026 in observance for the 4th of July.

The Fourth Circuit Public Defender Corporation is seeking applicants for a full-time legal assistant to help with the organization and running of the daily operations of the public defender office in Parkersburg, West Virginia. The ideal candidate will be a hard-working, reliable individual who is able to undertake a variety of law office support tasks and work diligently under pressure.
Responsibilities include, but are not necessarily limited to:
• Opening/closing files
• Answering phone calls and greeting clients
• Communicating with court employees
• Managing administrative responsibilities within the office
• Organizing legal documents
• Scanning/storing digital records and pleadings
• Assisting with sending form letters
• Assisting lawyer with various duties from responding to emails, pleading preparation, and management of client files
Skills required:
• Excellent organizational and time management skills
• Analytical abilities and aptitude in problem-solving
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with attention to detail
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office
