Sharing for our partners at US National Weather Service Tallahassee Florida: Bay County boaters are invited to take part in a free NOAA/NWS Marine Workshop on Wednesday, Sept. 23, from 9 to 11 a.m. CT (10 a.m. to 12 p.m. ET).

While the in-person workshop is being held in Perry, a virtual option is available. Topics include precision navigation, nautical charts, marine forecasts, and weather warnings.

The offices of the City of Panama City will be closed on Monday, September 7th, in observance of Labor Day.

Garbage collection (blue cans) will occur as scheduled, but trash services will be suspended on the holiday.

Due to the holiday weekend, the Town Hall, originally scheduled for the first Saturday of the month, has been pushed back to Saturday, September 12th.

Additionally, Monday Morning with the Manager, normally held on the first Monday of each month, will be pushed back one week and will take place on Monday, September 14th.

Today’s incident was a malicious prank that happened across the entire country. Thankfully, it was only a cruel joke, and our law enforcement agencies, teachers, and students, were able to go through the motions of preparedness without anyone being harmed.

The FBI confirmed that the phone number associated with the call has been linked to similar incidents reported across the nation.

While there was no credibility to the threat, law enforcement and staff were prepared for every scenario.
