Dalrymple Law is proud to support Data for Indigenous Justice. As part of our 15th anniversary celebration, we have selected this nonprofit as one of five organizations to receive a commemorative donation.
Data for Indigenous Justice is a nonprofit organization that collects data about Missing, Murdered, Indigenous People in Alaska. Due to previously inaccurate data collection or the lack thereof, a significant portion of the Alaska Native population was missing and unaccounted for. Therefore, family members, loved ones, and friends were never able to rest or have justice served for potentially harmful acts of violence, and these people virtually disappeared in data. However, the pain, confusion, and hope that they might reunite again stayed with their families. Data for Indigenous Justice collects data through multiple sources to accurately obtain the names, locations, and ages of those who went missing. Reclaiming their identity and drawing attention to the rate of missing Indigenous people we have in Alaska. We use this data to update Cold Case websites and to reach out to those who are unaccounted for. Data for Indigenous Justice has, “now gathered and reclaimed a total of 229 cases of Missing and Murdered Indigenous Womxn and Girls in Alaska. 149 as missing status. 80 as murdered.” (Charlene Aqpik Apok, Malia Villegas, Abigail Echo-Hawk, Jody Juneby Potts, 2021)
