Many employees are surprised to learn that FMLA protections are not limited to mothers.

Eligible fathers may also have the right to take up to 12 weeks of unpaid, job-protected leave following the birth of a child. That time can be used to bond with a newborn, support a spouse or partner, and adjust to the demands of a growing family.
