VanDeVoorde Hall Law PL, a law firm with a focus on elder law, is looking for a full-time or part-time secretary or legal assistant, working most if not all of the time in our Sebastian office, to perform a variety of tasks to support the office’s two attorneys and two paralegals. Duties include coordination of front-desk activities, such as greeting clients when they arrive, answering and redirecting phone calls, and scheduling appointments for clients; creating files in the firm’s practice management system and supporting paper files as needed; composing cover letters and first drafts of letters and other documents, including legal documents, typically based on previously-established templates; and performing other clerical tasks as needed. Often this will be the first person that many clients and potential clients meet, so it is vital that a successful candidate have a positive demeanor and patience. Previous law office experience is a plus but not required. Fluency in Spanish is also a plus but not required. Ability and willingness to learn is required.

We are looking to add to our pool of document signing witnesses (paid). We are looking for adults age 18 or over, who are reliable, and who we can call to serve as subscribing witnesses on documents, including Wills, Trusts, deeds, and other planning documents when our other staff is not available or has conflicts. No legal experience is needed (the attorney will conduct the signing), but you must be friendly and willing and able to sign and put contact information on documents and sign a confidentiality agreement. We have heard of a recent uptick in this scam. The Clerk's office will NOT text or email you to pay overdue fines or fees to them.

Clerks of Court will never ask you to send money via text message, phone call, or email for court fees, missed jury duty, warrants, or any other legal matter.

If you receive a suspicious message:

✔️Contact your local Clerk’s Office directly
✔️Report the scam to law enforcement

Brevard County, Florida corporation and LLC owners and officers: You only have ONE MORE DAY to file corporate or LLC annual reports for 2025 before late fees are incurred. Annual reports only take a few minutes to file online, but are required of all active corporations and LLCs in the State of Florida. Reports filed after May 1 incur a $400 late fee, so don't forget to file with the Florida Department of State Division of Corporations (Sunbiz)!
