IMPORTANT TIPS POST WINTER STORM FERN:

1. Stay safe.
2. Open faucets to let water flow for when it is restored to your home. Even if you don't have power, let the water run/drip so that it doesn't freeze once it comes back. Leaving the water running also helps reduce the new pressure "spike" in your pipes.
3. Limbs and trees are still falling, as well as huge chunks of ice. Watch out for widow-makers in trees and ice chunks falling from your roofs.
4. Take pictures now, before you start to clean up. Record everything you could possibly need for any insurance claims you may make. Also, keep records of any communications you have with your insurance company.
5. If you have cell service, and believe you are past the emergency phase and into the recovery phase, start researching the assistance MEMA and FEMA can provide.
6. If in the days and weeks ahead, you need help with your insurance company or any other organization, reach out to us here on Facebook, by phone, or by email. We all know what happened to those on the coast after Katrina.

We hope everyone is staying safe and warm enough. We are Mississippians. We help each other and weather storms better than anyone else in the world. I think it's something to do with a directly proportional relationship to the quality of our gas station food... pretty sure there is some research that says so.
