I spent this morning driving around Paradise with my camera.

The welcome sign says "May You Find Paradise To Be All Its Name Implies." On the posts: RIDGE STRONG. RESILIENT.

Eight years after the Camp Fire, this town isn't just surviving. It's building. Street after street of new homes. A rebuilt downtown that's clean and busy. I walked into Starbucks Sunday morning — packed, not an empty seat.

And it's not done. I photographed a house with framing still going up all over the Ridge.

Paradise was just named the fastest growing town in California. Where else in this state can you buy a brand new 3-bedroom in the $300s? A friend just closed on one — $306,000, new construction.

Paradise Lake was glass this morning. Bille Park is green and full. If you've been watching from a distance, drive up the hill and see for yourself.

6 Fall Hikes in Butte County 🍂

Fall is hiking season in Butte County — cooler air, golden hills, and the first rains waking up the waterfalls. Six of my local favorites:

🌲 Feather Falls — 8 mi RT loop, moderate. A 410-ft waterfall waiting at the payoff.
🚶 Oroville Dam walk — 2 mi RT, easy. One mile across, one mile back, lake views all the way.
🌳 Bidwell Park (Yahi Trail) — 7.9 mi RT, easy. Sycamores turning gold along Big Chico Creek.
⛰️ Table Mountain (Phantom Falls) — 4.2 mi RT, moderate. First rains wake up the seasonal falls.
🍂 Loafer Creek — 3.6 mi loop, moderate. Shaded oaks along the Lake Oroville shoreline.
🏔️ Paradise Lake — 9 mi RT, easy & flat. Mirror-calm water in peak reflection season.
