The city government blamed my client for her child’s untimely death. Once our firm was retained, the city claimed to not know anything about the improper design of the crosswalk and the inoperable traffic control device. After we filed our lawsuit and hired our experts, the city caved and decided to pay their 200k sovereign immunity coverage limit. The driver’s insurance company tendered its 50k limit and two other companies that didn’t have any liability, but were initially named in the lawsuit, paid 20k, collectively, to be released from the lawsuit.
