USCIS will permanently close its field office in Port-au-Prince, Haiti, on Dec. 20, 2019. The last day the office will accept applications/petitions and be open to the public is Nov. 29, 2019. The U.S. Embassy in Port-au-Prince will assume responsibility for certain limited services previously provided by USCIS to individuals residing in Haiti.

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) today announced a Federal Register notice extending the validity of TPS-related documentation for beneficiaries under the Temporary Protected Status (TPS) designations for El Salvador, Haiti, Honduras, Nepal, Nicaragua and Sudan through Jan. 4, 2021.
The notice automatically extends the validity of Employment Authorization Documents; Forms I-797, Notice of Action; and Forms I-94, Arrival/Departure Record (collectively, TPS-related documentation).

U.S. laws allow children to acquire U.S. citizenship other than through birth in the United States. Children who were born outside of the United States to a U.S. citizen parent or parents may acquire U.S. citizenship at birth under INA 301 or 309.
