The police are allowed to lie to you.

They can say things like:

“Your friend already told us everything.”
“We have you on video.”
“Your DNA was found there.”
“This is your chance to help yourself.”

Sometimes it’s true.
Sometimes it’s not.

But here’s the part most people don’t understand:

You are not allowed to lie to them — but they may be allowed to lie to you.

That is why “just explaining yourself” can be dangerous.

If law enforcement wants to question you, the safest words are simple:

“I am invoking my right to remain silent. I want a lawyer.”

Then stop talking.

Your silence cannot be twisted the way your words can.

They were arrested for chalk.
Not violence. Not vandalism. Chalk.

Two peaceful protesters used rainbow-colored chalk to honor the Pulse memorial crosswalk — a space that represented the 49 lives stolen and a community that still grieves.

After months of waiting, the State Attorney’s Office has now filed No Information Notices in both cases, formally declining prosecution.

That means the charges are dropped.

This is what defense work is about: protecting people when the power of the government goes too far.

CASE DISMISSED. ✨
