The new “Super Speeder” law went into effect in Florida on July 1st! This bill (Florida House Bill 351) creates a new criminal offense for “dangerous excessive speeding”.

New strict penalties were created for drivers going more than 50 MPH over the speed limit or driving 100 MPH or more.

Breaking the “Super Speeder” law could result in fines of up to $500 and 30 days in jail. Repeat offenders could face 90 days in jail and up to $1000 fine.

Florida Hands-Free Driving Law goes in effect today. Officers can now pull motorists over and issue a citation for texting, messaging, emailing and any typing on a mobile device. Citations carry fines and court fees.

This law prohibits drivers from using handheld wireless communication devices while operating a motor vehicle. This means drivers must use hands-free accessories for any sustained use of devices like smart phones or tablets.

Be Real ID ready by May 7, 2025. The deadline for having the required Real ID for domestic travel is fast approaching.

For your Florida license, if you have a star inside a circle in the upper right hand corner your ID is compliant with REAL ID standards.
