On Saturday, April 30, 1983, Jane E. Carey was sworn into the Florida Bar by Judge Larry Bodiford in her hometown of Panama City, Florida at the courthouse. The powers that be in Panama City allowed her grandfather, Pasco Gainer Sr, to have the ceremony at the court house. Although, they refused to turn on the air conditioner the during the ceremony. The family was proud to have Attorney Carey’s private swearing in at the courthouse in Panama City. She was joined by her family and loved ones at a reception hosted by her mother, Mary Carey, in their home.
Today we celebrate Attorney Carey for 40 years of service to the State of Florida and beyond. Attorney Carey is most notable for taking on cases other attorneys would not, and walking out the court room victorious for her clients. She credits her grandfather for her dedication to service because he taught her how to use entrepreneurship as a tool for community building. Attorney Carey’s most notable cases Finley v. Scott and Gregory K, not only changed the law in Florida, but these cases revolutionized family law around the world.
With a career spanning four decades, Attorney Carey has represented clients who were married in the 1940s and represented five generations of the same families. In 2020, when COVID19 shut the world down, Attorney Carey transformed her law office overnight to make sure that her clients continued to receive excellent legal care even during great uncertainty.
Attorney Carey is a proud Fiskite, member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc. and member of Fellowship Baptist Church of Pinehills.
Of all her many accomplishments Attorney Carey takes the most pride in being a mother of two, Harry H. Morall III and Mary E. Morall, with her late husband, Harry H. Morall II. Although, she is known by many in the community as “Ms. Jane”.
