Breaking news for Florida homeowners. Lawmakers just fast-tracked a plan that could slash your property tax bill in half, starting as early as 2027.

The Florida House of Representatives passed a proposal called HJR 203 that could dramatically reduce property taxes for people who live in their homes as their primary residence, if approved by voters in November 2026. This isn’t law yet. It still has to pass the Florida Senate and then win voter approval. But the House action is the first major step.
