Last week, I had the opportunity to attend the People's Convention, sponsored by the Center for Popular Democracy. I was grateful for the experience. As for the convention, I find that all conventions and conferences tax my social reserves, particularly after the first day. However, the workshops were good, there were a couple of excellent speakers, and the march was effective. What didn't like was that there was too much chanting during the plenary sessions. In fact, there was so much of it that it reminded me of pep rallies, which I didn't like when I was in school and, apparently, I don't like now. While some chants were timely and meaningful, such as "Black lives, they matter here," others are stale after 50 years of use. So I will end with a revised chant:
Hey hey
Ho ho
This damn chant has got to go!
