⚖️ UNHEARD: Civil Rights Law & Access to Justice

This September, the OCBA Young Lawyers Section turns its attention to civil rights law and access to justice with Unheard — a candid conversation about the communities our legal system leaves behind and what young lawyers can do to help close the gap.

Our featured speaker, Yohance Pettis, Esq., an attorney with Osborne, Francis & Pettis, PLLC, will share his perspective on advocacy, equity, and using a law license to make justice more accessible for everyone.

As part of our Many Voices, One Community year, Unheard is a conversation about listening harder, showing up, and building a legal profession that reflects and serves our community.

On August 12, OCBA YLS and CFAWL came together at Pour Choice Taphouse for our annual Backpack Project Happy Hour benefiting A Gift for Teaching! 💙

Thank you to everyone who joined us, supported the event, and participated in our raffle for some amazing prizes. Together, we raised funds to help provide much-needed school supplies to local teachers and students. ✏️📚🎒

💙 Pouring It Forward for Venezuela! 🇻🇪

Last week, OCBA Young Lawyers Section was proud to join the Hispanic Bar Association of Central Florida and CFAWL for our Pour It Forward Happy Hour, bringing our legal community together in support of Venezuela earthquake relief.

Thanks to the generosity of everyone who donated, we collected an incredible amount of much-needed supplies, including:

✨ 900+ diapers
✨ 180 feminine hygiene products
✨ 90 toothbrushes
✨ 80 packs of baby wipes
✨ 50 cans of food
✨ 45 rolls of toilet paper
✨ 35 pounds of rice
✨ Several pounds of clothing

Additional donations included soap, toothpaste, shampoo, deodorant, cough medicine, baby formula, and other essential items.

A huge thank you to everyone who donated and supported this effort! Your generosity made a meaningful impact and showed what our community can accomplish when we come together. ❤️
