We are half way through the last day and close to the championship round of the State High School Mock Trial Competition, and the OCBA Law Week Committee just wants to say that we couldn't have gotten through the last couple of days without our amazing volunteers. The OCBA Law Week Committee is urgently seeking volunteers to serve as scoring judges for the FLORIDA HIGH SCHOOL MOCK TRIAL COMPETITION on March 7, 8 & 9 at the Orange County Courthouse. Scoring judges can be attorneys or law students!

There are five shifts available (volunteers can do multiple shifts, but if you can do even one shift, please sign up!). No prep work is required and scoring judges will be trained at the beginning of their shift. The following shifts are available:

Thursday 3/7
4:30pm – 7:30pm

Friday 3/8
9:00am – 12:00pm
4:30pm – 7:30pm

Saturday 3/9
9:00am – 12:00pm
3:30pm – 6:00pm (Championship Round)

We plan to provide CLE credit for all shifts worked, and food (either breakfast or dinner) will be provided for volunteers.

The OCBA Law Week Committee is still looking for few more volunteers to serve as scoring judges for the Florida High School Mock Trial Ninth Circuit Court of Florida Circuit Competition this Thursday, February 8, 2024 at the Orange County Courthouse. There are two shifts available. Volunteers only need to do one shift (but can do both) and no prep work is required. Training will be provided immediately prior to the mock trials.

1. Morning – report by 9:15am; trials from 10:00am – 12:00pm; post-trial feedback with the teams may take an additional 30-45 minutes after the trial ends.

2. Afternoon – report by 1:15pm; trials from 2:00pm – 4:00pm; post-trial feedback with the teams may take an additional 30-45 minutes after the trial ends.

The OCBA Law Week Committee is now accepting nominations for the 2024 Poster and Speech Competition!!! The description of each competition is in the flyers below. The winners will be recognized at our annual OCBA Law Week Luncheon on April 18, 2024. Please help us spread the word in order to make sure that we get some awesome entries this year.

Entry forms for the Speech Competition are due by March 31, 2024. Entries for the Poster Competition should be hard copies with a fully-completed entry form and are due March 31, 2024 at 4 p.m. All entries may be delivered by mail or in-person to: Orange County Bar Association, Attn: Law Week Poster Contest or Speech contest (depending on which competition you are entering) to the address 880 North Orange Avenue, Orlando, FL 32801.

A few weeks ago, the Orange County Bar Association Law Week Committee Co-Chairs Brandon Sapp and Jill Davis met with Judge Steve Jewett and Director Annette Pitts to plan and finalize the upcoming Florida High School Mock Trial Ninth Circuit Court of Florida Circuit Competition!
