“Give thanks to the LORD, for he is good; his love endures forever.” “The LORD has done it this very day; let us rejoice today and be glad.” Psalms 118:1 & 24.

Happy New Year! Today is a new day and the first day of the new year. As our verse says above…’let us rejoice and be glad’. This means, rejoice, regardless of our circumstances. Be glad and rejoice that we have the opportunity to seek His face and go after new opportunities.

Many of our friends and loved ones didn’t make it to this new year. But we are here! We have another opportunity to seek Him, praise His name and rejoice! Today was made by God with intention. So were you and so was I. We all have had many past experiences where things didn’t work out like we hoped. We’ve been disappointed, hurt and felt lost. But today is a new day and the beginning of a new year. Rather than focus on past hurts and disappointments, let us learn from our past and make new steps toward our created purpose and destiny. Let us not lose sight that He has a plan for us and our future. If we are still here, we are not done! Let us seek His face and His will and not our own. Life is better when He is in it!

“I consider that our present sufferings are not worth comparing with the glory that will be revealed in us.” Romans 8:18 NIV

We are experiencing and enduring so much trouble, turmoil and struggle during these times. But, we must know that even in this present time, our struggles and problems are only temporary. Not surprisingly, even our present struggles and problems are not unknown to God. He knew what we would face and when we would face it. And in these times, as 1 Thessalonians 5:18, says:, “give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.” It’s not easy to give thanks when things are not going like we thought or hoped they would. But we must know that He is there with us to give us peace and hope; even in these times. Know that He will be there with us to see us through these tough times. Don’t lose hope. Don’t lose faith. Don’t give up. Trouble does not last always. Jeremiah 29:11, says: “For I know the plans I have for you:, declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you, plans to give you hope and a future.” Even in our darkest times, He is still there. We must look to Him, the one who holds our future and our destinly. We must believe that even in during these times He is still working things out for our good.

“This is the day which the LORD hath made; We will rejoice and be glad in it.” Psalms 118:24 KJV

Life can bring many trials and struggles. We meet each day not knowing what we will encounter. But as the word says, regardless of the circumstances, we are to rejoice and be glad in it.

I am thankful for this day as it is the day, so many years ago, the Lord thought I was needed in this earth. He gave my life a purpose and design that only He could develop and fulfill. It is important that we remember we are to have faith and give thanks in all things, this is the will of God for us (1 Thessalonians 5:18).

So, rejoice with me today and give thanks!

“You intended to harm me, but God intended it for good to accomplish what is now being done, the saving of many lives.” Genesis 50:20 NIV

The context of this scripture comes from the story of Joseph. After many trials, struggles and difficulties, not of his own doing, Joseph rose to second in command under Pharaoh in Egypt. The harm done to Joseph began with his brothers who were so jealous of him they wanted to kill him. Instead, they sold him into slavery intending to get rid of him. They told their father that Joseph had been killed by a wild animal. Joseph’s father believed he was dead. But God had a different plan for Joseph. After being sold into slavery, Joseph suffered many things. He was lied on, imprisoned, rarely recognized for anything good. We all experience hardship, obstacles, trials, shortcomings and more, just like Joseph. We often make decisions that turn often out poorly. And although we have made and continue to make mistakes, God has not turned His back on or abandoned us. He knew us and our purpose even before we knew our name. He has a purpose for us just as he did for Joseph. God had a plan for Jesus to come to earth, to give His life to save the world. God also has a plan for us. The enemy does many things to attempt to take us out; get us off track. He means it for evil. But God has a plan that even when it looks to us like it can’t work, He works it out for our good. This week, many of us will celebrate the resurrection of Christ. Although He was crucified because of evil and the rejection by man. It was meant for evil. It didn’t look like God’s plan would work. But God worked it out for our good! We will encounter many hardships and difficulties as we go through life. But don’t give up. God is able to work it out for our good!

“Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart; I appointed you as a prophet to the nations.” Jeremiah 1:5 NIV

Many think that we are our own; that we answer only to ourselves. Many believe that our opinions, our thoughts and beliefs are the only things that matter. But we did not create ourself. We were made by our creator. We were made with and for a specific purpose. It may take some time for us to discover and realize that purpose, but there is a specific purpose for each of us. If there was not, we would not be here. Imagine: all of the other people in the world, and you’re here! That’s because you are supposed to be. So often we look to other people and thins for our definition; our purpose. We need only look to our Father, our creator, for He knows the what, when, where and why. He knows the trials and problems we will encounter in our life and He’s worked out the solution; even before we have encountered the problem. Each of us are uncommon, different, special and unique in His sight; fearfully and wonderfully made.

“For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.” 2 Timothy 1:7

Many of the tactics the enemy uses to gain advantages and control involves fear, intimidation, threats and the like. Fear can cause us to shrink back, to not pursue or to remain paralyzed in our situation. We believe it is about our strength and all up to us. This thought process allows the enemy to gain ground. But our faith in God, His spirit and His power gives us confidence that regardless of what we may face, we do not have to face it alone or in fear. When God is with us, we can overcome and do all things through Him (“I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” Philippians 4:13). We can approach any situation confronting us with the confidence and faith of knowing that God is with us. “If God is for us, who can be against us?” Romans 8:31. Remember whose you are and who you are in God. God can do all things, but fail.

“Praise the LORD, all you nations; extol him, all you peoples. For great is his love toward us, and the faithfulness of the LORD endures forever.” Psalms 117:1-2 NIV

In times of trouble and difficulties it can be hard to focus on giving thanks and praise to God because we are focused on our problems and not the problem solver. We must remember that the Lord inhabits the praises of His people (Psalms 22:3). When we praie we magnify Him and not our situation. We invite the Sprit to move on our behalf. God desires that we pray to Him, seek His face and praise Him in every circumstance (1 Thessalonians 5:18). So instead of focusing on the problems, the issues or the situation, focus on Him and just keep on praising. ’

“I consider that our present sufferings are not worth comparing with the glory that will be revealed in us.” Romans 8:18 NIV

Hello All! It’s been some time since I’ve written. However, I believe this passage and these thoughts are worth sharing during these difficult times.

We all have our struggles and sufferings that we have experienced and are still encountering. None of us are exempt. What we must not lose sight of is that our focus cannot reside or dwell on what we are experiencing or where we are, but realize that even in the midst of trials and struggles, the Lord is still there with us. And, that what we are experiencing during these times is nothing compared to the glory and what will be revealed in us. What we experience is not punishment, but development. We cannot have a testimony without a test. It is difficult to encourage if we have never experienced hardship. So instead of focusing on our issues, we should, even in the midst of our trials, focus on His glory and the promise we have in Him. It’s about our focus on Him; not our problems. We must learn to praise Him while we are on the mountain top and even while we are in the valley. He never changes, but our situation does. So praise Him, not only in the good times, but even in the tough and difficult times.

“Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.”1 Thessalonians‬ ‭5‬:‭16‬-18‬ ‭NIV‬‬

When was the last time someone spoke an unsolicited kind word to you? Or you spoke one to them? Saying thank you to the person holding the door for you, or you allowing the other person to go in front of you shows kindness. We now live in and encounter such negativity on a regular and daily basis, it can be difficult just to keep a positive attitude. But stop and reflect on all of the wonderful and marvelous things God does for us each day! We can’t count them all because we are usually too busy complaining about something. But we are blessed each day with blessings we couldn’t earn and certainly, we don’t deserve; even on our best days. But what would happen if we instead of complaining, just gave Him thanks? What if we examined and reflected on all of the wonderful things He does and has done for us? After all we’ve done; going our own way; doing our own thing; He still loved us enough to send His Son to save us. And like the 10 lepers He healed, which one of us will be the one to come back to say…Lord, I thank you?! Our blessings are so much greater more numerous than we acknowledge or realize. Thankfully, He doesn’t treat us like we treat Him or others in our life. He just continues to send us blessing after blessing because He really loves us. It’s time we just tell Him…’Thank you Lord, for sending blessing after blessing.
