The proposal could expand the homestead exemption for qualifying primary residences, impact non-school property taxes, and affect how local governments fund public services.

🚨 FLORIDA LAW CHANGES

What happens when someone doesn't report suspected child abuse?

Beginning July 1, Florida law will give prosecutors additional time to pursue cases involving the willful failure to report suspected child abuse, neglect, abandonment, or sexual abuse by pausing the statute of limitations until the violation is discovered by law enforcement.

We had a wonderful time at yesterday's Professional Women's Luncheon!

As a sponsor of the event, it was great to connect with so many incredible women and professionals from across our community.

It was also bittersweet as one of our own, Giuliana, joined us during one of her final days with The Orlando Law Group before heading off to law school. We are so proud of all she has accomplished during her internship and grateful for the hard work, dedication, and positive attitude she brought to our team.

Do all estates go through probate?

Spoiler: no.

Probate isn’t always required—but it’s more common than you’d think.

In Florida, probate usually happens when:

✅ Assets are titled only in the deceased person’s name
✅ There are no listed beneficiaries on key accounts
✅ There’s no living joint owner on the property
✅ There’s no trust or estate plan in place

In these cases, the court has to step in to transfer ownership—even if everyone agrees on what should happen.
