😱 Can you actually buy a haunted house? 👻

Yep.

The more interesting question is whether anybody has to tell you about the extra roommate first.

Homes with a disturbing history or reputation can fall into what real estate calls a stigmatized property, and the disclosure rules aren’t the same everywhere.

There was even a famous New York case involving a seller who had publicly described the house as haunted. The buyer ultimately got out of the deal.

So if that beautiful old house seems suspiciously cheap, I’d probably ask a few more questions.

Sometimes the inspection isn’t the only thing that finds surprises. 👻

Mortgage. Taxes. Insurance. HOA if you have one.

Is this a scary time to buy or sell? 👻

Depends which headline you read today.

But national headlines don’t tell you what’s happening in Oak Lawn, Orland Park, Tinley Park, Palos Park, or the rest of the Southwest suburbs.

I’ve bought, sold, and invested in plenty of markets that made people nervous. And honestly, some of the best opportunities show up when everybody else is hesitating.

Before a headline talks you out of doing something, look at the actual numbers.

There can be a lot going on in a real estate transaction at once.
