Using inclusive language for birthing bodies costs you nothing. I've been seeing a lot of cis people getting upset at the terms "birthing parent" and "chest feeding" and I'm just over here like 😀it's not about you 😀

If you want to be called a mother, if you want to use the term breastfeeding, that's great. I will use those terms for you! But many parents feel dysphoric about those terms, and we get to evolve our language to include them too.

Not all people who give birth are women.

🔸this post was drawn and written with my non dominant hand! My working on this page has intensified my disabilities and I'm currently not able to use my dominant hand.

We recognize PRIDE as a moment to honor and acknowledge the spectrum of sexualities, genders, sexes and experiences within the birth world. So, as much as June is a moment for celebration, it’s also an acknowledgement of how far we have to go. We live in a world that regularly attempts to limit and block our access to reproductive rights—and often trans, non-binary, two-spirit and LGBTQIA+ parents and birthing people are excluded from our collective fight to improve the birth world.

As we close out the month of June, we’re revisiting THEY/THEM/THEIRS, a conversation from BORN INTO THIS 2019, in which Trystan Reese, Emma Robinson, Miriam Z Perez and MAC Brydum explore the gender biases and binaries that are still present within reproductive health.
