California confirmed its October 15 deadline. Thursday, October 15 is the final date for most California individuals to timely file 2025 returns under the automatic six-month extension. California does not require a separate extension application, but payment was due April 15. FTB reports issuing 14 million refunds averaging $1,486 through September 28.

Federal extension returns are also due October 15. For electronically rejected federal extension returns, the IRS lists October 20 as the final retransmission date. Preserve the original acknowledgment and rejection report and correct the return promptly; October 20 is a rejection-perfection period.

When you sign an Affidavit of Support, you agree to a financial obligation that is legally enforceable. Sponsors can be held responsible for supporting a sponsored individual until the individual becomes a U.S. citizen or is credited with 10 years of work.
