Let’s say you buy a home for $300,000 and ask for $6,000 in seller concessions. The seller still sells the house for $300,000, but at closing, $6,000 of their proceeds goes toward eligible buyer costs—like closing costs, prepaid expenses, or sometimes a rate buydown.

If your home took on water, what you do next matters. Before you start ripping things out, document everything, figure out where the water came from, and start drying things out as soon as it’s safe.

Fans. Dehumidifiers. Photos. Receipts. And please—don’t use electrical equipment around standing water.
