Two years ago, I opened the doors to Barnhill Family Law with a vision: to create a practice rooted in compassion, advocacy, and true support for families navigating difficult times. My goal was to create a holistic legal practice - one that sees the whole person behind every case. I wanted to blend compassion with legal strategy, to truly meet clients where they are.

Today, that vision is being carried out by more than just me - we’ve grown from a solo operation to a team of three. Our clients repeatedly express what an amazing experience they have working with Alexis and Whitney. We’ve been able to care for our clients more deeply and respond to their needs more fully. What a difference it makes to work alongside people who care just as deeply about our clients and community as I do!

This past year has been one of intention. Every system we’ve built, every relationship we’ve formed, every case we’ve handled has been in service of that original vision: to provide legal help that truly provides compassion, clarity, and real support. I’m proud of what we’re becoming and even more grateful for the people we’ve met along the way.

We are thrilled to add Whitney Skutt to our team as Barnhill Family Law's Office Manager and Senior Paralegal! Whitney comes to the firm with several years of experience in family law and previously worked as a Court Reporter for the Douglas County District Court. Whitney's skills and experience in family law are invaluable to our team, and she provides a compassionate and thoughtful approach to her work here.

In her free time, Whitney enjoys quality time with her partner, pets, family, and friends. She also enjoys home improvement projects, long walks at Target, and spending time outdoors! Please join us in welcoming Whitney!

For Administrative Professionals Day, we are happily celebrating by introducing Alexis Welker, Paralegal! Motivated by her passion and empathy for those entangled within the legal system, Alexis aspires to serve as an advocate for individuals involved within the system. In her role as a Paralegal at Barnhill Family Law, Alexis provides compassionate assistance to our clients, always making sure she has left no stone unturned.

While she is currently pursuing a bachelor's degree in Criminology and Criminal Justice at the University of Nebraska at Omaha, post-graduation, Alexis plans to attend law school and hopes to practice law. A native of Omaha, when Alexis is not working or studying, she enjoys traveling, art projects, and spending time with her family, friends, and two cats.

BFL is so thankful for the work Alexis does here! We are certainly lucky to have her!
